Business Centre Benefits From maxit ABS Screed

MAXIT has supplied its self-levelling ABS 200 and its fast set ABS 317 fibre reinforced floor screeds for use in the renovation and extension of the restaurant hall at The Heath Business & Technical Park, as part of a refurbishment of the premises.

Flooring preparation contractors, Pro Prep, selected the two screeds due to time constraints, as they were required to prepare the entire floor area for its top finish of Armstrong stripwood in just one night.

Dominic Hughes, director of Pro Prep, who oversaw the contract, explains:

“maxit screeds were the best choice primarily due to their excellent quick-drying properties – we had to pump about six tons of screed in a single night, to a depth of 40/50mm. We only had this one tight time frame to create a durable, flat, smooth floor.

“The first layer of ABS 200 was dry in only two hours, and then we laid the 317 fibre reinforced screed over a mesh straight on top. With many other types of screed it is necessary to carry out extensive repairs to the substrate, but maxit is ideal for renovation work such as this because even on older concrete bases there is minimal need for such repairs to the sub-floor.

“ABS 317 goes straight down and acts as a reinforcement as well.”

The redevelopment of The Heath is being managed by owners SOG. The refurbished restaurant, named Foodini, is now open for business and forms an important part of SOG’s range of facilities and support services for both new and established businesses on the site.
